If you have lost your natural teeth whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, dentures can replace your missing teeth - and your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit not only your appearance but also your health.
There are various types of dentures; most common types are an immediate full denture and a partial denture.
An immediate full denture is used to replace all teeth within the upper or lower parts of the mouth. A patient can either have an upper denture, a lower denture, or have both. The base of the upper denture rests over the gums and roof of the mouth. A seal is then created to hold the denture in place. The bottom denture is shaped like a crescent moon to allow room for the tongue.
A partial denture is a removable piece that replaces the space where one or more teeth are missing. This type of denture can be worn on the top or bottom of the mouth.
